HGH comments: The purchases of “The Billiards” and “The Painting Reverend” were made in Paris at the Galerie Naïfs du monde entier. Paris has eight naïve galleries and one Naive museum, which was renovated out of a farmer’s market in Montmartre. This was the last great effort of the well known publisher Max Fourni, who himself owned a collection of 2,200 naïve paintings. These are kept in the late Fourni’s ranch in the country outside Paris.

The Reverend’s hobby is clearly shown and the intimacy between the bird and the artist is charming and full of peace.
