HGH comments: Railroad to Wigan Pier was done by Michael Tripp, a British train engineer who must have been fascinated by the powerful engine and its ability. I think I was a little bit too early in line to have bought this particular painting and my doubts are now justified. The dark colors gave the work a severe and sinister atmosphere. Not usually the trademark of the naïves, and I was right: his newer work is full of the joys of life in subject as well as colour. Never mind, it’s not for sale!
